Kent residents targeted by COVID-19 Grant scam text

We have received reports of unsolicited text messages targeting Kent residents. 

What happens:

  • You receive a text from an unknown number.
  • The text will start with 'GOVUK'
  • It will claim your are eligible for a COVID-19 grant due to the current lockdown.
  • You will be directed to a link to a fraudulent website.
What to do:
  • This is a phishing scam.
  • Do not click on any links.
  • Forward the text to report@phishing.gov.uk and then delete it.
  • If you have fallen victim to this scam, contact Citizens Advice on 0808 250 5050.
Please warn vulnerable family members, friends and neighbours.
